Debipriya Chatterjee (Debi) is an economist with over a decade of experience providing rigorous economic analysis, fiscal modeling, and data-driven insights to public agencies, nonprofits, and policy organizations. She specializes in translating complex data into clear, actionable analysis that supports decision-making, policy design, and public communication.

Debipriya has led tax policy analysis, revenue forecasting, and legislative scoring across multiple New York City institutions, including the Independent Budget Office, the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, and the Community Service Society of New York, where she served as Senior Economist. Her work has informed city and state legislation on tax equity, child and earned income tax credits, housing incentives, and poverty reduction, and has been used by elected officials, advocates, and agency leaders.

Through her consulting practice, she offers economic and fiscal impact analysis, data science and administrative data analysis, and high-quality data visualization tailored for policy audiences. She is particularly experienced in working with complex public-sector datasets and presenting results in ways that are accessible to non-technical stakeholders.

Debipriya holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University and currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Fiscal Policy Institute. She is based in New York City.
