About

Sometimes leaders and teams need a helping hand for a key project or a fresh set of eyes and ears to partner with them to identify challenges, get unstuck, and chart a robust path ahead. At Canopy Rise, I help change-makers in the social justice and environmental arenas to thrive. I'm catapulting 30 years of success inside organizations, such as Sierra Club, Physicians for Human Rights, and the Biden administration, to coach, advise, and implement. My services are geared primarily toward change-makers within nonprofit organizations, philanthropic institutions, government agencies, and universities.

Elite athletes need coaches, not because they are deficient, but because they are great. The same can be true for organizational leaders. Running a mission-driven team can be exhilarating and can leave you feeling stretched thin or stuck. You may experience loneliness as you contemplate sensitive decisions. As a leadership coach, I listen with compassion and curiosity, serving as a confidential and honest sounding board. Coaching can focus on a wide variety of topics, such as a high-stakes initiative launch, staffing issues, board relations, funding shortfalls, new roles, etc. It is not so much advice as it is structured and sometimes “outside the box” conversation to help you identify your path ahead.

I'm also available to consult and execute on projects such as climate or transportation policy landscape analyses; outreach; and writing and editing.

I invite you to visit my website at www.canopyriseconsulting.com and subscribe to my LinkedIn newsletter called "Leadership is About Choices: Helping Change-Makers Lead with Humility, Curiosity, and Impact."
