About

Bay Consulting helps mission-driven organizations close the gap between their purpose and how the work gets done, day-to-day. The practice brings together three threads of the same work: CliftonStrengths-based leadership and team development, strategic facilitation, and change management.

Founder Mish Sommers has spent her entire career inside purpose-driven organizations: experiential and environmental education, conservation and natural-resource agencies, and nonprofits; which shapes how she works: she listens first, reads how ready an organization actually is for the change in front of it, and builds the support people need to move forward together, rather than arriving with a fixed solution. Her approach is grounded in systems thinking and a human-centered view, and the conviction that the change an organization needs usually runs deeper than the tool or initiative it came in asking for.

She holds one master's degree in organizational leadership and another master's in project and change management, is PROSCI-certified, and is a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. Bay Consulting serves leaders and teams across Maine and the Northeast, with particular fit for nonprofits and the outdoor and conservation sectors — and works comfortably with solo, micro, and small organizations facing a restructure, a growth threshold, a leadership transition, or a team that isn't clicking.
