Join us on Tuesday, October 27th from 10-11am (ET), for the virtual monthly convening of the Consultant Circle!
Leading Change & Navigating Organizational Resistance
Member Presenter: Kristen Illes
Every consultant who has guided a client through change has run into resistance. In this spotlight session, Kristen Illes of 3D Leadership Solutions offers a practical way to understand that resistance and work with it. She draws on two Harvard frameworks: Heifetz and Linsky's Adaptive Leadership and Kegan and Lahey's Immunity to Change. Participants will explore why people resist the loss that change brings, not the change itself. They'll also look at how even a change champion can quietly undermine their own initiative through hidden competing commitments. The session closes with small-group discussion so participants can apply these ideas to their own client work.
Kristen Illes is the Principal of 3D Leadership Solutions, where she consults with nonprofit organizations on strategic planning, executive coaching, talent optimization leveraging the Predictive Index, and designing and facilitating retreats and management/leadership trainings. Her perspective is grounded in years working inside the nonprofit sector itself — 11 years at Safe Horizon, the nation's largest victim services organization, and 11 years as VP of Programs at the Coro New York Leadership Center — before she moved into leadership consulting. Kristen holds an M.A. in Psychology from Marist College and draws on frameworks including Heifetz and Linsky's Adaptive Leadership and Kegan and Lahey's Immunity to Change to help nonprofit leaders and teams navigate growth and change.
Each interactive session includes a brief member spotlight on a member's area of specialty and their challenges and collaborative needs. Circle meetings also feature breakout discussions on rotating topics intended to build skills and community. The Circle meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month, from 10-11am ET.
This members-only community of practice is intended to share knowledge and resources, and build community and collaborations among its members; with the goal of assisting each other in building thriving consulting practices. The group strives to create a space where all can share openly and contribute to determining the focus and format of the Circle as it evolves to best meet members' needs.
At each Circle meeting, one member presents a very brief spotlight on an aspect of their practice or a client case study. We are always looking for new and repeat volunteers! If you are interested, please email Suzanne Albin at sralbin2@gmail.com.
There is no charge to attend any Circle meetings, but monthly registration is always required.
